George Ward, well-known by his stage title Cherry Valentine, was an English drag performer who lived from 30 November 1993 until 18 September 2022. His participation throughout the second season of RuPaul’s Drag Race throughout the UK and the BBC documentary Cherry Valentine: Gypsy Queen and Proud made him most well-known.
In an interview with Drag Race UK, Ward outlined that rising up in a conservative ambiance the place drag was frowned upon led him to cover his Traveller ancestry from the LGBTQIA+ group for concern of coping with “hatred or retaliation.” He revealed to fellow competitor Sister Sister, “Being gay as a child had an impact on me.
